Title
Impacts of wildfires on soil biogeochemistry in boreal environment
Abstract:
“Fire is one of the most important natural disturbances in boreal” environments (approximately 1% of the boreal forests burns annually), driving biogeochemical processes and carbon cycling in these areas. Changes in future fire regimes, including changes in the fire season length and occurrence time (spring vs summer fires), increase in fire frequency (return interval), intensity, and severity, will cause changes in different biogeochemical processes in boreal forests. “Impacts of wildfires on soil biogeochemistry in boreal environments” gives an overview about the direct and indirect, but also short- and long-term effects of forest fires and post-fire recovery on soil biogeochemical processes in boreal forests.
