Academy Prof. Markku Kulmala, Head of the ACCC Flagship and Director of the Institute for Atmosphere and Earth System Research (INAR – University of Helsinki), was appointed Deputy Director of the Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) in Beijing, China.
The nomination for Deputy Director was approved by the Steering Committee constituted of representatives from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and relevant ministries mandated to promote science and development. Academician Prof. Guo Huadong, Director General of the CBAS, informed by letter the approval of the appointment of Acad. Markku Kulmala as Deputy Director, with an acknowledgement to his extensive experience in earth and interdisciplinary science, and insights on emerging technologies.
CBAS will formally be inaugurated on September 6, 2021 with the aim to improve scientific research, promote data services, and facilitate technological innovations towards the implementation of SDGs around the world.
