ACCC Online Research Seminar – Mitigation of short-lived climate pollutants

Mitigation of short-lived climate pollutants: combining climate law and aerosol science.

When: 12.May.2021

Time: 9:00-10:00 am (Helsinki)

This talk will discuss a multi-year research collaboration between the UEF teams in climate law and aerosol physics on short-lived climate pollutants, primarily black carbon and methane. The primary goal of collaboration has been to identify legal and regulatory options to mitigate emissions of these pollutants at both global and national levels, and to estimate their potential to slow down climate change using climate modelling. We will present findings from our previous project on the Arctic and ongoing project on developing countries as well as reflect on opportunities and challenges of interdisciplinary research collaboration.

Speakers:

  • Senior researcher Yulia Yamineva (UEF-Climate law)
  • Senior researcher Thomas Kühn (UEF-Aerosol physics)
